Touareg/Cayenne fiasco Round 2 (Dakar)

Tihol Hi,

I think the Dakar raid is one of the few where changing an engine is NOT
prohibited.

I remember very well that back in the early 1980's Mercedes has won the
Paris - Dakar with a Gwagen that had an engine changed during the event.
There was a dispute with Lada (which came a VERY close second) which
appealed the results but the ruling was that changing the engine with one
taken out of a vehicle which was alo competing at the same event was
allowed. Mercedes was allowed to keep the first place.

Now what I do not know is whether the engine installed in Mrs. K's Race
Touareg (as the proper name is, to differentiate it from the standard one)
was one used in another vehicle or a spare one.

Take care
Pantelis
