EDL questions

Man, am I really this old? I remember when me and my teenage friends
first invented the EDL concept (kidding, ok)by lightly applying the
brakes when you were stuck on a slippery surface. Of course we did it
the old fashioned way, with our left foot rather than having a computer
do it, but it still worked. I still remember how surprising it was when
it actually worked.
