80q ignition lock switch replacement

hi folks-

i've recently acquired an 88 80q with a hairy ignition lock cylinder. 
it was sticky for a while, and tonight at work, it just plain quit. the 
original key will not turn and is bringing out some metal shavings with 
it (tiny ones). no spares work either.

i am assuming it's high time for a new ignition lock cylinder/switch.

has anyone done this? have you any advice/recommendations? i'm able to 
easily remove the instrument panel and knee stash box and hope that i 
will not have to remove the console or dash...im going to try to get a 
switch with a cylinder and key included so i dont have to swap 
cylinder. huw tells me that the 4000's switch is riveted in, is it the 
same on the 80?
