From what I have seen, the Ultranator VR has the same physical
configuration as any other Audi/Bosch compatible unit. I like the KAW
(?) one I put on my 90 because makes a full 14 volts as opposed to the
Bosch typical 12.605...

I think so, yes. Right after starting the higher voltage on the gauge
represents the high current flow to replenish the battery charge used in
starting. In my wildly guessing theory universe, anyway. My 90 does
this as well, though it's more like 14 then 13.8
