My H1/H4 set came with some damaged brakets also. Mine are installed
quite securrly without spending a dime. Now I had two golf wiring
harnesses that got me all the 40 amp relays I would need (1 for each
filment). As far as the bracket goes I am going to make the leap of
faith here that our cars are identical.

The top of the US headlights are secured with just screws. The bottom is
supported by an intermediate bracket that then bolts to the body. This
bracket has two bolts holding it to the body and supports the lower two
bolting points for the lights. With a hack saw, some bending, and a
right angle grinder (dremel would work great too) I modified this lower
bracket to fit the euro light assembly. One of my tabs was torn out so
I used washers to help secure. The outboard upper bolt should line up
perfectly. My headlights are supported by the bottom two bolts and the
one upper. They are rock solid. Of course my turbo's BPV is right
behind the passenger unit and the A/C - radiator stuff is on the other
side so changing bulbs pretty much requires pulling the assemblies. I
guess you have to make some sacrifices.

You will probably want to add marker light capability elsewhere since
the factory units will no longer fit. I modified my bulb holder on the
turn signals and wired these in with dual filiment bulbs. Some day if I
get around to it I will add side markers too, but it is a ways down the
list.

Sadly I didn't take any pictures of my installation. If you look close
you will notice that the spacing of the lower mounting bolts are close
enough from US to Euro that you can just bend the bracket to make it
work. Then just trim them down a little so they fit.
