Why?
The Germans use up existing stock first.
Just like all manufactures. As they have the
full range of options at their finger tips. This
allows any number of production variations.

To know in advance what is inside the individual
tranny is impossible. You may have to sort through
a stack of 016 trannys to find if there is any standard
point of departure.

1980 you say? if they can be found, the tran's should be
cheep.

Best of luck.
