'95 A6 fwd auto trans - fill capacity & where

B Parenteau asked:  What is the fill capacity on this transmission?  It
appears as though the
only access to fill is on the side of the pan, is that correct or am I
missing
something?

The trans is filled through that hole, and you had better be sure the fluid
is the correct type?  There's a VIN break.  It holds what it holds (refill
is like 3 quarts or something like that), measured by spillage within a
pretty narrow temperature range measured with VAG-COM or the factory
diagnostic equipment, and the car sitting level.  The temps and the level
are critical to the proper operation and life of the transmission.  The
procedure is outlined in the Bentley manual.  This is NOT something you
should do without the proper tools and parts.  HTH, John
