2.8 12v oil consumption-burning oil

I've got two 95 A6 v6 12v cars.
One I've owned since new, it's got 95K mi now, and doesn't use a drop
of oil.
The other one I bought used about 4 yrs ago when it had about 50K mi.
Now it has 75K mi, and it has used oil since the time I got it.
About a quart every 2K mi.

I think it all depends on how well the car was treated in its youth.
