FYI,
When my TO bearing was failing on the
single mass flywheel equipped 200Q, it
only made "whirring" noises when the
clutch was engaged (pedal NOT depressed),
and the failure mode was the bearing failed,
NOT the clutch (at 183 K miles) which meant
shifting w/o a clutch in order to get it
somewhere where I could replace the clutch.
I did not experience vibration in the pedal
until the bearing actually failed.
BTW, when the bearing came out, it was in
several pieces.

Mine does the same thing. I have 144,000 km on an original clutch and it
vibrates slightly when engaging/disengaging. I attribute this to bad
throw-out bearing.
I've decided to live with it and replace the t/o bearing when the clutch
goes.
