**** Correct. The Bentley is explicit on this point. Thats akin to loosening
the wheel lugs before jacking up the car and changing a flat tire.
Since you mentioned the bolt . .. why does the Bentley and Haynes indicate
that Locktite be used on the CV joint splines before you assemble and torque
things down?
What function does the Locktite perform? If anything, it is the bolt that
should get the locktite and not the spline.
Maybe its to eliminate any side to side play between the drive shaft spline
and the hub?
What would be the result of that that kind of play?
