Running Hot- '88 90q

Hello my fellow Ringnuts!
(btw...I just thought of that and I might use it as my
new license plate! RINGNUT...if only Iowa allowed 8
letters...4RINGNUT!)

I just picked up an '88 90q and it runs hot. The PO
installed new thermostat and heater core within the
last 9 months. The display flashes the coolent error
at me almost as soon as I start it, sometimes it takes
a minute. It never overheats (drove it from Texas to
Iowa with no probs), and the fan seems to kick on and
will run when it is off. Any ideas!

The dash lights are not working either. I replaced the
fuse that controls dash lights, cruise, reverse
lights, but it didn't change! Do the dimming knobs get
stripped or become mis-aligned?
