Is it a sickness??

Hi all,
My 90 Quattro has been running really well- I managed to get the idle
to go down to a sensible speed after replacing the throttle body, the
idle switch was broken on the old one and the casting was cracked where
the boot clamps on so I think air was getting in.
I also cleaned out the ISV and tightened up the connector prongs which
were a bit loose. While I was doing this I noticed the insulation has
burnt off the wire that comes out of the vacuum diaphragm that is
mounted on the firewall. I didn't want to fiddle with that too much
because the actual wire is quite corroded, and it looks about ready to
break. I want to run a new wire, but it disappears into the wiring
harness and I don't know where it comes out. I found another burnt wire
under the dash, it goes back to a control box / relay with the part
number: 443 907 393M, I am not sure if it is the same wire or not. Does
anyone know what that relates to?
On another note, I am so pleased with this Audi that I couldn't resist
buying another one when it came up cheap on the internet. It is a '83
Coupé GT 5S, it hasn't run for about 8 months so I will have to get it
going to take it away. That means I will have no space left now with 6
cars! ;-)
