Folding seat won't unlock

Hello. I could swear I've read about this same problem on the list, but 
couldn't find anything when searching the archives. Anyway, I have a 
'95 90 Quattro and the locks for the fold-down rear seat seem to have a 
mind of their own. Sometimes they unlock when I unlock the car; 
sometimes they don't. It seems to have no relation to whether the trunk 
lock is in the vertical or horizontal position, or whether the car is 
unlocked using the trunk or either door. Any tips to how I can fix 
this?
