Ok, just thinking out aloud here, but why can't you have a timing chain in front of the engine. Why the back where, if it breaks, and I believe they do, it would mean removing the engine to replace.

Check out the NEWSET brochure for the S4 and V8 4.2 engines:
S4 catalogue, Page 20:
"By replacing the belt in the front with a chain that drives the dual
overhead camshafts from the rear of the engine, we were able to trim off two inches
off our potent 4.2 liter V8........."
Let me rewrite that: Chain means less claims and warranty expenditures for
AOA.
Cubic inches are cheaper than turbos..................Chains are BETTER than
belts.
