Transmission Problem?

Hi All,

I'm trying to determine what might be the problem on my 97 A4 1.8tqa.

Recently had the transmission serviced from the Audi dealer about 2 months ago and first noticed this problem about 4 days ago.

When I come to an abrupt stop from high speed the revs drop to about 250 rpm and then quickly bounce back up again - almost stalling. The shifting is also a little rough when going from 1st to 2nd with almost a thunk. Shifting at speed is smooth with no problems their.

Also, when I put it in reverse on an incline, it will clunk into reverse and then back again into drive. Also noticed that when going down an inclince, like a driveway, it'll take a moment to engage, again with a slight thunk.

Is the low rpm and shifting related? I'm hoping that there is some idle stablization valve or some other sensor mounted on the tranny that either needs cleaning or replacment and not a full blown tranny problem.

Thanks

mohammed
