Check Engine Light??

I just bought my A6 last week, and the engine light comes on periodically.  
It comes on after about 15 minutes of driving... if that.  When it does come 
on, I can just pull over to the side of the road, turn the car off, and then 
turn the car back on.. to turn the check engine light off.  I am just wondering 
if this is a flaw in the design, if the car actually does need to be checked.. 
or what should i do....   Should I just pull the codes and reset it?

The car runs like a dream.  No strange noises, no suspension defects, nothing 
major.  The mechanic told me the compression was at 185.  No major leaks.  
The only problem with the entire car is the crack in the windshield washer 
tank-- so now the digital screen is always tellin me to fill the tank.  I'm going 
to replace it with my new paycheck.
