Wanting Better Radiator

Am I wrong in thinking that a diesel engine produce less heat than a
comparable gas engine? I always believed that heat was a byproduct of the
combustion process and a diesel burns less fuel (and is more efficient doing
so...) so its cooling needs will be less than a gas engine.
As a matter of fact, some modern European diesel-engined vehicles must have
a supplementary source of energy for the cabin heating (usually it's a bank
of electrical resistor placed upstream in the HVAC system) because their
engines are so efficient.

De la part de Drew MacPherson
The turbo diesel 5K is listed as using a shorter (570mm vs 615mm rad - not
to say that it didn't have an extra core.) It also has one of two
auxilliary radiators. The part number breakdown is below:
'86 A50T 443 121 251 K 615mm
'86 A50TD 443 121 251 S 570mm and
443 121 251 B aux rad
or 443 121 251 C aux rad for use in warm countries
Hope this helps.
