mixing and matching tires on a Quattro?

The basic question is: do you ever mix tires on a Quattro, and by mix, I
mean tires that are the same type, but different age or wear. And if not,
why not?
I bent my right front and rear wheels in an accident at the track, so I've
purchased 2 new wheels. The left front and rear wheels and track tires are
still in good shape; the tires only have 2 track events on them. These are
directional tires, Yokohama A032R, hard compound, unshaved.
Should I buy 4 new tires and save the 2 old ones for spares, or can I buy
2 new tires, mount them on the fronts, and de-mount/swap the old left
front to be the right rear? Eventually I'd have to rotate that tire to
the right front again, because the right front takes a real beating.
Oooh. Maybe I just answered this question.
In any case, I'd appreciate your comments and collective wisdom.
Thank you!
