mixing and matching tires on a Quattro?

I'd put 2 new ones on the front, but I'm cheap.
I'm guessing others that say you should *never*
mix tires, and still others will say it depends
on which "quattro" you have (T*rsen, Haldex).

You've got a 4KQ, correct?
