Hello Tom,
Thanks for the great info. I wasn't sure what the
flashing light meant, since the owner's manual says
"Pull over immediately and scream for help and cry
helplessly until rescued" rather than anything useful.
That makes sense further, because I've known that the
coolant level in the overflow tank stays at the
minimum level - even when topped off to be at the max
level, it will spray/leak out until it gets to the
minimum level. How convenient.
I didn't bring that up previously because I thought
the flashing light had to do with the temp. not the
level. Ahh and that also explains why it tends to
happen upon acceleration, as the fluid is sloshed
around, it probably affects the sensor. I need to
look more closely at the resevoir and hoses...
Thanks for the info on the side vents. You can
probably tell I'm new to older Audi's, I've only had
this '87 for less than a week now.
