Inside the boots, correct.  Without getting into a
solder vs. crimp debate, I crimped a 1-ft piece
of wire to each end of the broken wire using butt
connectors, then tucked the butt connectors into
the door and jamb, respectively. Repeat as needed
for all the broken wires.  Use a good ratcheting
crimper, not one of those cheap $5 ones. Try MCM
