Mmmmm i trying to do what i asked many time here in this list ;-)

There is what i got:

For the rear diff you have to put it up side down, but need to had more oil
in the diff.

For the tranny , the main shaft does all the job in the tranny, it cant be
reverse without reverse the ring and pinion.
The pinion and ring cant be reverse, the case is not fabricated as a VW air
cooled wich you can reverse it to make 911 config or 914 config.

You have to machine the case to reverse the pinion and ring. I tought about
machine the case but you ll need two case , cut the side you want to swap on
both..... and you ll have to machine the alignment distance, shims,,,,, it
ll cost ouffffffffffff much more than a VW buss tranny 4x4.

Best way is to get a 4x4 bus tranny.
