traffic woes and laws

I certainly hope this doesn't transpire. It would be
a shame to lose that level of freedom. I would hope
that there would be enough backlash about something
like this so that it would be repealed. Though knowing
our government it would be implemented in such a way
as to seem harmless and acceptable based on the
circumstances, such that if you disagree with it you
must be unamerican and/or criminal minded.
I think that insurance companies would push hard for
it, so they could use the driving data against you and
charge you extra. On the other hand I think local
cities would lose revenue from speed traps.

If they would go through all the trouble to imbed
tracking devices in our cars (whose to say they
haven't already?) then why wouldn't they just force
speed governors on all cars? Speed limit signs could
have sensors in them that talk to the governor in your
car, the govenor in your car then reacts accordingly.
Maybe then they would allow you to pay an extra tax to
be in a faster lane...
Then we might as well move to a system like on the
movie Minority Report....just sit back and arrive at
your destination.

I'm more nervous about the path of biometrics. Taking
fingerprints, scanning faces, scanning eyes....that's
all fine - but what about the next step? Imbedded
ID's. Who needs to track your car when we can track
YOU? Guess what? It's already in the new US $20.
Andrew has a tiny RFID chip in his right eyebrow. Try
and microwave it...it will burst into flames and
Andrew's face will burn.

With the march to squash terrorism, how easy it could
be to take these steps towards ID's. Imagine...it
would be easy to identify everyone that is legal (and
to be legal you had to go and get investigated, then
imbedded). A crowd could be scanned in seconds, warm
bodies without the ID picked out of a crowd easily.
You might be a terrorist if you disagree with this new
policy...

/end of conspiracy ranting/
