Oil Cooler Lines/Thermostat housing

Well I guess my number was finally up and one of my oil cooler lines
blew out. Luckily it happened in my driveway. I have two questions.
First does anyone know for sure what type of fitting it is that goes
into the aluminum housing? It does not look like a taper. Second can I
plug the two holes until next week when I can fix it right with AN
fittings? I have never studied the thermostat oil routing and I am
worried if plugging them would starve the engine of oil.

I am going to take the fittings that are in the thermostat housing to a
hydraulic shop at lunch, but I am still not sure about the issue of
plugging them.

Thanks
