Brake master cylinder. No argument, no discussion, easy fix - just change it.
Bleed the brakes afterward.
You can get a rebuild kit, but it is generally not successful, and many
FLAPs stores (Pep boys, Discount, etc.) have these complete cylinders in
stock or can get them in a day. When I did my 86 5K, it was $46 with a
lifetime guarantee at Autozone. Works fine.
