I wouldn't necessarily say that the 30V is oil tight. Cam seals are a problem
for sure. The current theory is that the vacuum system (vacuum pump or breather
hose) becomes clogged and raises the pressure inside the engine (head?) and it
forces the gaskets to leak. 

There have been a LOT of cam seal leaks with the 30V, whereas the 12Vs used to
like to spit oil out of the head gasket.
