Only the early 12V V6 (1992-1994 100/90) has oil leak problems.
I don't think that afflicts the 30Vs.  However, some 30Vs seem to
experience high carbon deposits, I would suggest using something like
Lubro Moly Ventil Sauber periodically.

As for which is more reliable, I'd say the V6 as it is less stressed
than the 1.8T.  Especially if you chip the 1.8T.  On the other hand,
the 1.8T with chip and other mods can easily make more power than the V6.
The V6 is much more refined and quiet.  It makes a nicer sound than the
1.8T.

The engine is not the only difference between these cars, the V6s
also tends to be more luxuriously appointed and have more features
(power seats, wood trim, etc).
