Car Stuck! Engine Coolant boiling over - Update

I dont think the fan failed. It actually turned on twice while I was working
on the car. Dunno why it did turn on. Maybe the temp sensor is defective . .
. makes contact at lower than rated temperature? I'll test it after I fix
the head gasket.

The fan fusible link was replaced before by the dealer. Previous owner had
the dealer do all the work. The monkey lads placed the link on top of the
spade lugs instead of under them. Tightening the screws twisted the link and
caused cracks.

I'm still not sure what the hell was/is going on with the fan. I suspect the
link was cracked and just barely making contact.
My theory goes like this:
The fan worked on the lower fan settings. Car never ran hot enough to
require direct B+ (highest speed) applied to the motor.
At these lower fan speeds, there was not enough current to melt the intact
portion of the link.
When I applied direct B+ to the motor (got a spark) . . . that was enough
current to blow the partially fractured link.

I dont believe the fan and head gasket problems are related.
The car is not used in any stop and go traffic. Most of the driving is on
highways. The fan seldom goes on. The gauge never goes beyond 40%.

The head gasket went south because of SH (Shit Happens). There is some
devilish collusion between the Audi gods and Murphy.
