90q brake upgrade woes :(

i already returned the rotors without measuring them...
I know i probably should have measure the difference between the two.
the rotor did NOT hit the strut housing but i had to remove the dust shields..
the calipers were a few mm off. not horribly but i am afraid to shim it
without
using a proper bracket...
I just don't see how i'm the only one with this problem. other have done
this upgrade.
what gives? i have front struts off an '88 90 everything else seems correct...
