My wife and I got burned hard this spring with a Diesel Suburban. The
seller played as if he was in NY state with the truck. He answered all
the questions I asked favorably. When it came time to send the money it
was to an address in Oregon. I was a bit taken aback, but OK with
that. The trouble was the truck was a piece when it arrived.
Everything he has said was in great shape was exactly the opposite.

It was not even running well enough to get estimates on repair work in
the time frame for the eBay warrentee. The seller agreed to pay some
money back then two months later said he would never pay. eBay doesn't
give a s**t. They got paid that is all that matters to them.

Seven months and $4000 later I almost have the truck on the road (except
the bad tranny which is likely to set me back another $2000). I feel I
could win at small claims court, but air fare from Virginia to Oregon
would eat that right back up.

I will never buy a car from a private part on eBay again. At least with
a dealer you have recourse and they have a desire to keep their name
clear. My sellers solution to the problem was for me to try and unload
it on some other poor sap. I don't work that way. </rant>
