Trying to cut down noise and confusion on this by replying to multiple related repies.

The '87 5000 turbo wiring diagram shows one and only one wire - green .5 going from the Idlw stabilizer control Unit to the Ignition Coil terminal 1. As Justin states, there may be an internal connection which i observed that goes to the coil terminals, but is not shown in the diagram.

So Either the coil is receiving the primary signal from the ISV, or the ignition booster is supposed to pass through and amplify the current to the coil 1 - that would make sense, but why isn't it shown in the diagram? The leads from the booster/1 --G/W-- ECU/22 and booster/2 --Br/W--ECU/2.

Here is a description Ihave from a factory service training manual of the Ignition coil assembly including the ignition booster: A darlington type transistor switch is used to switch the primary current for the ignition coil windings ON anws OFF. The engine control unit sends a voltage signal to the switch module. The switch will then trigger the primary coil windings similar to a set of ignition points. The coil then produces the ignition spark.

The little diagram accomanying the description shows the ignition booster/darlington transistor having a trigger signal from the control unit, another lead to ground and one lead to terminal 1 of the ignition coil.

Maybe I ought to swap the coil and booster out just for kicks, as I don't find any diagnostics on them. I had already done continuty checks on the leads to the ECU.

[<snip>
Looking at the diagram, it shows ***only the green wire that goes from the
Idle Stabilizer Valve Control Unit(ISVCU) terminal 17/1 is connected to Coil
terminal 1***. The other segment on ISVCU 17/1 is shown to go to the
autocheck controller. Therefore, the diagram does not show a control signal
feed that comes directly from the ECU that aught to go to the coil terminal
1. So it a appears the problem is I am missing this feed, or it is not
being enabled or passed through ISVCU or other means. Is ICU that Tony
refers to the same as what I am Calling the ISVCU?

OK, the ICU I refer to is the ignition control unit that mounts inside the
DRIVERS side kick panel on the 5k. I'm not sure if it is there on a turbo.
Yes, there should be some sort of signal running from the ECU to the coil,
but until I look at the schematics, I don't know which wire this would be.
And, I would sure hope the ISV isn't where the signal comes from.

[I'm not sure if this is an answer your looking for, but the "ignition"
booster, on the side of the coil has a direct connection with the ECU, and
this booster is connected internally to the coil...
