Broken clutch rod?

All the hydraulic clutch Audis I have driven have a lighter clutch pedal 
than my cabled '82 coupe.  By a factor of, oh, say, 4 or 5 times easier.

I think that is the whole point of the hydraulic system, to multiply the 
mechanical advantage and make the clutch easier to release.
