any discount parts place) is supposedly $1600.00 (from Audi) plus labor. I am basically worn
out. I've put so much money into this car, I probably could have had a brand new Audi for all
the repair costs I've paid. Water under the bridge now though.

One of the inputs to idle stabilisation is whether or not the a/c magnetic clutch is engaged.
It sounds to me like this signal simply isn't making it.  Does the 95A6 have a separate ISV
controller or is it a Motronic function?
