type 44, bottom radiator shroud bolt removal?

There are two of these beasties- and the first one, closest to the
fender, came out sneaking a thin-wall deep 10mm between the body and
the A/C pipe loop. No sweat.

The second one, however, is buried back there; the body crossmembers
and wiring and all sorts of other garbage is in the way. How the
heck do you get in there? I've even tried pushing the radiator up a
half inch or so. Now I can at least see it better, but even with a
flex-joint socket and every extension in the house, I couldn't manage
to get purchase on it.

It's the last thing holding the shroud on and thus foiling my plans
for world domination- or at least radiator removal. Chris's page has
a writeup from Paul Waterloo which is about as helpful as the
Bentley- "remove both lower bolts"...yeah, great, wonderful :-)

Oh, also- has anyone else ever modified the radiator with a drain to
make flushes easier in the future/not require removing as many hoses?
'Murican cars have these, why can't ours?
