Drove a TT 3.2 DSG

While I was waiting for my 50K service on my allroad to be performed,
I had a chance to take a new 2005 TT 3.2 w/ DSG out for a spin (by
myself!)
This was my first drive in a TT. I had to lower the seat to get the
best overall view out the windows. Man, the visibility is a bit on the
bad side! Still, once I was driving, the only complaint was that I had
to lean forward to see the light change. It took a little bit to get
used to the paddle shifters. I really wanted to use a clutch and the
stick! The shifts were so fast and seamless! The only real indication
that a shift had happened was the engine note and the tach reading. It
was pretty easy to shift while driving relatively straight. I'll bet
shifting in a turn would be more of a trick... but I could just tip
the shifter instead. One thing I noticed was when I stomped on the gas
(all the way to the floor), it automatically kicked into a low gear
(not sure which one). and the tach shot way up!
One thing that is very nice is the engine note. I can't say enough
about how good this car sounds! It sounds like a real sports car! Just
open it up and you feel like you are in some sort of racing game! I
didn't get much chance to see how it handles. When I returned from the
test drive, it had about 13 miles (that's right!) on the odometer!
Geeze, I hope I didn't mess up the break in!
At $42K, I think I'll wait for an off-lease one in a few years! Ouch!
