Hear that? That's my blood pressure going through the roof.
Would it kill any of these sites to actually write their own content?
I'm so tired of reading Audi marketing drivel. It takes NO talent
for Audiworld, VW Vortex, etc to post that crap; it could be done
entirely automatically; you wouldn't even need trained monkeys.
Press releases that pretend to be independently authored content are
infinitely more annoying than straight simple press releases, and if
Audi wants us to read them, they should just post them on their own
corporate website and be done with it. At least they put on "text
and photos supplied by"- Audiworld, for example, posted Audi
marketing stuff as their own content for years, and I -think- at one
point they even put their own "staff"'s names on it.
Audi GMBTLCABC123 Marketing: don't give us fluffy crap thrown in
trying to be artsy, or pat yourselves on the back so hard you'll need
a back brace, because nobody actually believes any of it. Say "we
heat the cylinder wall instantly with a UV laser in a nitrogen-rich
atmosphere. The fast cycle means little crystalline structure
formation which gives a semiplastic-like surface blah blah blah blah,
it cuts down on oil use." Ie, cut to the chase and lay it out.
And for god sakes, would they stop stealing/playing off Audifans'
name? Yeesh. At least they didn't take audifans.net, like the UK
Audi Club did. Buried in the site is a note that "we have no
affiliation with Audifans.com" and says some nice things about us.
a)why's it buried on some back page that took me 15 minutes to find,
and b)if they knew about Audifans, why did they take audifans.net?
Answer: they wanted to cash in on our name recognition c)if they
knew about Audifans, why didn't they ask for permission to use the
name? Answer: 'cause they knew the answer would be "no".
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! (yes, I'm done ranting. For today. Tomorrow I
tackle the new A4.)
