I have a friend whose 10-valve 200t burned to the ground in the driveway of
a rural volunteer fire department. He was driving the kids to school in
the early morning and smoke started coming from the steering column area.
He was near the fire barn, so that's where he stopped. Couldn't rouse
anyone, though, and the car just flamed away. This was about a year after
his 5ktq burned up when his house burned to the ground. That fire started
in the house's power feed.
Several Audis have been damaged/destroyed from the speakers in the rear
deck starting fires.
