Radio code

Kneale,

Last time I had to get a code (last month, it was for a 94 Gofl with a
replaced radio), all I had to provide was the car serial number and the
radio serial+part numbers. And it was free.

But then, I can say that I have a "special" relationship with my dealer...
You know, I own and maintain no less than 4 VWs and Audi...
:-)

Newer cars, a dealership secretary can access the code with the VIN and the
serial number of the radio. The older cars now require a more laborious
search because that information is in a different computer program than the
one used for newer cars.
