Radio code

Newer cars, a dealership secretary can access the code with the VIN and the
serial number of the radio. The older cars now require a more laborious
search because that information is in a different computer program than the
one used for newer cars. Maybe they're talking about a charge for the tech
to pull the radio to get its number and then do the different search???
The shop foreman at our local dealership (a shirt-tail relative) is the
only one on the property who knows how to get the code for older cars.
