With DC current, "ground" is a state of mind. Most vintage cars with 6
volt systems had positive ground, yes, even the 'merican cars. The
English were the only major players who kept the "positive earth" when
they went to 12 volt systems.
While not technically "wrong", it's alot easier and cheaper to "update" a
design flaw the way Audi did, instead of doing a complete redesign and
doing it right. If the supply grounds out, the wires will still go Pinto
with the fuse on the grounded side. Audi engineers, wrong???
Naw....impossible, just ask any of them.
