I know it's a bit late, but SS should be fine for both those areas. Brass probly won't work. I'm using SS on the wastegate and front pipe as well. One thing to note is there are 2 common categories of SS hardware: A2 and A4. They are usually stamped with A2 or A4 somewhere. A2 is regular old 304 (aka type 18-8) SS, and is good for most cases. A4 is made of type 316 SS which is stronger and harder than A2, especially at high temps. A4 is used for marine apps, and automotive in rust belt areas. I bought the A4 type nuts and bolts from McMaster b/c they are not that common. I have some extras if you need any.
Also, at any good store, there should be little or no difference in price for metric vs. US hardware. Most American cars use metric and you should try to stick to one system to avoid confusion later. SS hardware is more expensive, but well worth it if you ever think you might need to separate those parts again. There's also a really good high-temp anti-seize called N-5000 which is good up to 2400 F! Here's a link: <http://68.72.74.108/lu51572.htm> Make sure to use lock rings (star tooth ring is best) or use a second nut. good luck.

Is it ok to use SS bolts on wastegate to downpipe flange? Which nuts
are better to use - SS or brass? Can I use all SS fasteners in cat's
flanges?
Thanks a lot.
Konstantin
