Help, wiring gurus needed

Sorry to read about your electrical fiasco. The mechanic obviously screwed
up and blaming you for the cause due to adding a V1 power supply and remote
display is an attempt to divert attention. I also have a V1 power module
permanently installed in my 200q. Although there are numerous ways to wire
one in (mine is powered off the ignition switch terminal for detecting
presence of the ignition key), these modules draw so little current it
can't smoke/burn wiring w/o blowing its tiny fuse.
By connecting a new (higher current) power path to the license plate bulbs,
and not disconnecting the original shorted source wire, they bypassed the
lower current fuse protecting the original circuit. Thus allowing more
current to to the short and the weakest link being the small wires and
instrument cluster, begain to burn.
You don't need to be a wiring guru or electrical engineer to see what
happened here.
As long as you have pictures of his work, showing that the original wires
weren't severed, I think you have an excellent chance to prove your case
even if the judge is a technical moron.
