i don't know very much about sun roofs but i can give you a few tid bits.
my brother used to work in the test lab for Webasto Sunroofs. it used to
be a german company so they are probably the ones that made your roof.
anyhow he did the testing that was submitted to the auto manufactures that
commissioned Webasto to make the roof.
he has told me that the seals are a major issue to fitment both when new
and when old. as far as i remember there were multiple thicknesses of
seals for any given roof design and closing/sealing problems were fixed
most often with a different seal. if these are available to wrenchers
they will most likely come from the dealer, or a place that deals in
replacement part for sunroofs. note that the aftermarket division of
webasto made different roofs that didn't use any of the same parts as the
automotive oem versions :(.
i would suggest if you can hand help the roof in and out for a while that
the seal will shrink overtime as it is exposed to heat and uv cycles.
after that it should fit tight and give you a good seal for a longer
period than one that fits just tight right now. also as you probably know
sunroofs are designed to leak. thats why they have that drain system in
place. make sure that your drains are clean :).
