IMHO the retro start button is a fad which won't last long.

If you want reliability you have to go back further, lets see who goes
really retro and puts a mechanical start pedal in their cars first.  For
those who might not know what I'm talking about, in the good ole days the
start pedal was linked directly to the starter mechanically, no pesky
electronics or wires.  Positive contact.

If the retro trend continues, start looking for the crank lever
sprocket...hmmm...maybe that's why Audi has gone to the ugly horse collar
front ends...

My all time favorite was the starter engagement method of the ole
pre-60's Mercedes Automatics, I'm guessing 99.9% couldn't figure out how
to engage the starter on one of those.  Much nicer than any rustic start
button and lots of fun watching even well seasoned tech scratching their
heads and giving up.  Won't spoil the fun by posting it here. ;-)
