My recollector is rusty on this, but I seem to recall some threads from the
Miata world where it was suggested that too much flow could overcome the
fuel pressure regulator and you'd wind up with some overfueling issues
and/or a damaged FPR. Again, IIRC one potential solution was to add a
bypass line from the supply to the return to bleed off some of the excess
capacity.
