Coupe GT...creaking from front end

Wondering if anyone else has run into to this before?  The patient is a
1987 Coupe GT, and when accelerating or decelerating there is creaking or
snapping from somewhere in the front of the car.  Going over bumps does not
seem to cause it, its more when I get on and off the throttle (when the
motor/trans would shift front to back)

I can't seem to locate where it is coming from.  I jacked the car up last
night and could see anything readily apparent.  The noise seems to to get
more noticeable as the weather gets warmer.   Would control arm bushings
make this noise?  Maybe motor mounts?

I don't know where to look.  The car drives fine, nothing feels loose in
the front end, just makes this disconcerting noise.
