I took a ride to Circuit City. Found the part - AntennaWorks 40-VW20 . . .

The part is a plain adapter, no impedance matching circuitry.
That being the case, I'll splice in the new antenna cable to the existing
cable at rear antenna amplifier.
I'll do it carefully trying to retain the original physical configuration
as much as possible. Inner conductor unsulated by a coax type insulator,
surrounded by shield braid.

***** I may put a short on that second input. Will see how that works. I'd
rather have a shorted input than an open connection subject to electronic
interference. I think the radio circuitry will just shut off that part of
the input antenna circuit when it sees no signal at all.
