I got my noisy fuel pump out.
Will be replacing it with a Pierberg pump.

The fuel pump holder does not look as described in my manual for this model
and year.
It should look like this:

But , it looks like this:

The fuel pump was loose in its holder when I removed it.
According to the SJM instructions, the pump in its housing is supposed to be
installed with the tool 3214, turn 1/2" to lock it in place. Also, the tool
is supposed to be used to unlock the pump.

Question: Can I lock the pump in without this tool? Will my hand supply
enough force and torque to lock the pump into place?
