Any chance you can find a competent local
starter/alternator shop in your area?

Last year, I had 2 1.9L TDi starters rebuilt because
they were going noisy right after you released the key
from the start position.

In US$, one was around $70 and one was around $85 to
have fixed.  I am sure a genuine Bosch rebuilt would
have north of $200, as the diesel starters have always
been expensive.

The part I like is that I know exactly what was done
to my starters...
