bad optima battery...any other negative experiences?

I put one in my '66 Mustang a year or so ago, hoping that it would save
my back (removing battery and storing), but it went dead in less than 4
months and wouldn't take a charge, warranty replacement didn't make it
through the summer.  Good ole lead acid Interstate lasted 3 years under
worse conditions.
